THE PEOPLE`S VOICE

After parliamentarian elections in 1927, Sombor was left without any periodical publication in the Serbian language. Because of that, The People’s Voice was started at the end of the following year, in 1928. The People’s Voice, a publication of national orientation that was not connected to any party, appeared in public on 1 December 1928, as a weekly paper on four pages. The last issue was published on 19 March during the thirteenth year of the paper’s existence. The first owner and editor of the paper was Uroš Jovanović Kriger. The paper was printed in the printing-office of Stevan Stojačić in Sombor from the first to the last issue. After the change of the editor, at the beginning of 1935, The People`s Voice stopped being a pro-regime oriented paper, and until its last issue it kept an oppositional spirit. Without taking into account anonymous contributions and the ones coming out of the editor’s pen, the associates of the paper were Radivoj Simonović, Vasa Stajić, Bogoljub Jevtić, Vaso Zrnić, Pavle Terzin, Sava Kanurić, Triva Militar, Stevan Konjović and others.
